Roger H. Howard
As one of California's most experienced and savvy real estate, corporate, mergers & acquisitions lawyers, Glaser Weil Partner Roger Howard, who co-chairs the Firm’s Real Estate and Corporate Departments, specializes in finding strategic solutions to complex business and real estate transaction issues.
Mr. Howard’s transactional real estate practice is focused on acquisitions, residential and commercial development, sales, restructuring, workouts, title issues and leasing. His practice includes purchases, sales and leases of residential/condominium and large commercial properties, including, for example, sales of major studios, high-rise residential properties, subdivisions, gas station portfolios, high-rise office buildings, regional shopping centers, historical monuments and hotels. Mr. Howard's extensive knowledge of high-stakes real estate issues has led some of the country's largest title insurance companies to seek out his knowledge and expertise to help them resolve complex title insurance issues on their highest-priority claims.
Mr. Howard's corporate and business work is in the area of mergers and acquisitions as well as corporate restructuring and tax. Mr. Howard works with numerous national and local manufacturing companies, oil/gas companies, financial institutions, national investment banking and private equity companies, worldwide importers and foreign entities.
Mr. Howard received a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he received recognition as the outstanding graduating senior. He received his law degree from UCLA School of Law.
Additionally, Mr. Howard is a frequent lecturer on real estate, business and corporate issues, and has spoken before organizations that include the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Fidelity National Financial and Chicago Title Insurance Company, UCLA Extension Programs and California CEB.
Mr. Howard has been selected for inclusion on the Southern California Super Lawyers list and in the Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel edition. He was also a recipient of the 2010 Humanitarian Award from the Los Angeles Tower Cancer Research Foundation.
Successfully represented financial institutions and/or developing distressed real estate property throughout the United States, resulting in multi-million/billion dollar turnarounds.
Restructuring of the historical landmark, The Mission Inn (Riverside, Calif.), for a major financial institution resulting in the preservation of the hotel.
Represented the sale of the largest U.S. medical uniform manufacturer, and the sale of the largest U.S. direct sales organization.
Successfully represented major oil companies with respect to their sale/lease of approximately 400 gas stations to national, publicly traded oil and refining companies/fuel distributors.
