Glaser Weil Secures Key Court Victory Keeping Campbell Hall in Sexual Assault Lawsuit Against Former NBA Player

Glaser Weil has achieved a significant litigation victory on behalf of client Hayley Dylan in her lawsuit arising from a 1988 sexual assault on Campbell Hall School’s campus by former Los Angeles Lakers player Byron Scott when she was just 16 years old.

On January 30, 2026, the Los Angeles Superior Court denied Campbell Hall’s motion for summary judgment, ruling that the school owed a duty to protect Ms. Dylan from harm by the intentional or criminal conduct of third parties on the school’s campus.

The ruling preserves Ms. Dylan’s negligence claims against the school, and the sexual assault and other claims against Byron Scott, and allows the case to proceed to a jury trial scheduled for February 23, 2026.

The Glaser Weil team is led by partner Kerry Garvis Wright, chair of the Firm’s Employment Practice and includes associates Joseph Hadacek and Simon Moradzadeh.
