Glaser Weil partners Patricia Glaser, Jill Basinger and Barbara Rubin were recognized as honorees in Variety’s 2016 Legal Impact Report spotlighting the world’s top entertainment attorneys working in film, television, theater and digital media. The report appears in the April 12 issue of Variety.

Ms. Glaser and Ms. Basinger were among the leading litigators and Ms. Rubin was among the foremost transactional attorneys selected, based on information gathered by the Variety editorial team and suggestions from the legal community.  The Legal Impact Report honors attorneys who have had have had a major impact on the entertainment industry over the past year. Qualifications included winning a major case, negotiating an important deal, or accomplishing any goal that influences or sets new standards in the business.

Patricia Glaser, head of Glaser Weil’s Litigation Department, tops the short list of trial attorneys in the nation sought after for high-stakes litigation. For the third consecutive year, Variety has named her to the Legal Impact Report, recognizing her work as lead trial counsel for Morgan Creek Productions in a dispute concerning a biopic of rapper and actor Tupac Shakur. The publication also focused on her representation of clients Boulevard Management in defense of a suit by NBA star Gilbert Arenas and Rysher Entertainment and 2929 Entertainment in a contract-related case against Cox Media Group.

Glaser Weil partner Jill Basinger is an experienced trial lawyer who has garnered many favorable verdicts for high-profile entertainment industry individuals and Fortune 500 companies. Ms. Basinger is a previous Legal Impact Report honoree from 2014. This year Variety highlighted her work with MGA in a contract dispute over TV series based on MGA’s Lalaloopsy toy brand and ad sales agreements and her representation of Denise Richards in an ongoing dispute with Charlie Sheen.

Glaser Weil partner and Entertainment Transactional Department Chair, Barbara M. Rubin, has devoted her practice to providing practical advice to talent and entertainment companies in film, television and new media. For the second consecutive year, Variety has hailed Ms. Rubin for balancing her high-profile transactional practice, with clients such as Anonymous Content, Machinima and Martin Sheen, with her work as Associate Visiting Professor and Executive Director of the Entertainment Law Practicum at Loyola Law School.
