Glaser Weil Attains Jury Verdict on All Claims in Oil and Gas Royalty and Elder Abuse Trial
Glaser Weil successfully represented a private energy company focused on the acquisition and management of oil and gas mineral interests in a high-stakes commercial dispute tried over three weeks in Riverside Superior Court.
The litigation team pursued the client’s allegations that a former business associate had wrongfully retained substantial royalty payments related to mineral interests in North Dakota. In response, the opposing party filed a retaliatory elder abuse claim seeking significant damages, including punitive damages.
Glaser Weil presented a comprehensive offense and defense, including expert psychiatric testimony and a detailed factual narrative that led the jury to unanimously reject the elder abuse claim. The jury awarded the client all of its claimed damages and commended the clarity and professionalism of Glaser Weil’s presentation.
The litigation team was led by Partner Jesse Levin, with support from Associate Grant Cofer and Paralegal Rebecca Feldman. Glaser Weil is now pursuing recovery of attorneys’ fees incurred.
