Glaser Weil Sponsors Wiesenthal Center Dinner, $4.8B Defamation Lawsuit Ends Victoriously as Supreme Court Declines to Hear Case
Glaser Weil is proud to sponsor the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s 2025 Humanitarian Award Dinner, taking place on October 30 in Beverly Hills honoring Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav for his unwavering commitment to combatting hate and promoting tolerance.
This sponsorship follows Glaser Weil’s significant legal victory, led by Litigation Department Co-chair Julie Gerchik, on behalf of our clients—the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Rabbi Abraham Cooper (collectively, “SWC”). The litigation team also included Department Chair Patricia Glaser and Associate Alaina Bird, whose contributions were instrumental to the successful defense.
The United States Supreme Court recently denied Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam’s petition for writ of certiorari, conclusively ending their $4.8 billion defamation lawsuit against SWC, as well as the Anti-Defamation League and its CEO Jonathan Greenblatt (together, “ADL”) who were separately represented. The Supreme Court’s denial leaves intact Glaser Weil’s victory in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which affirmed the dismissal of Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam’ case against SWC by the Southern District of New York. The court confirmed that SWC’s and ADL’s statements characterizing Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam as antisemitic are constitutionally protected opinions under the First Amendment and New York law.
We are proud to have achieved this result for our clients and honored to support the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s mission of confronting hate and promoting justice.
