Glaser Weil Secures Favorable Ruling for Leonard Cohen’s Longtime Manager
Glaser Weil successfully represented Robert Kory, the longtime manager and trusted advisor to the late Leonard Cohen, in high‑profile litigation brought by the songwriter’s heirs challenging Mr. Kory’s conduct in managing Mr. Cohen’s career, finances and estate. The claims included allegations of financial misconduct and elder abuse.
Following a comprehensive court‑ordered reference proceeding in Los Angeles Superior Court, a retired California judge issued a detailed report concluding that Mr. Kory acted properly, ethically and in accordance with his fiduciary and contractual obligations at all relevant times. After reviewing extensive documentary evidence and testimony, the referee found no basis for the allegations and recommended that the court fully approve Mr. Kory’s accounts, actions and transactions, and that his legal costs be paid by the opposing parties.
Litigation Partner Adam Pines served as lead counsel for Mr. Kory throughout the matter.
The case remains pending before the trial judge for final approval of the referee’s recommendations, but the findings represent a significant victory for Mr. Kory and a decisive rejection of the claims asserted against him.
