Glaser Weil Secures Appellate Victory Affirming Domestic Violence Restraining Order for Client

Glaser Weil is pleased to announce that the California Court of Appeal has affirmed our client Q.N.’s domestic violence restraining order (DVRO), leaving intact the full protection the trial court granted after several days of trial testimony. The appellate court also upheld the trial court’s denial of a competing DVRO request filed by Q.N.’s former partner, E.H.

Partners Cynthia Organ and Patricia Glaser represented Q.N. in the underlying proceedings, obtaining a DVRO that protected Q.N. from stalking and harassment by her former partner. On appeal, E.H. challenged the trial court’s rulings on discovery, evidentiary rulings at trial, and the trial court’s interpretation of the Domestic Violence Prevention Act’s definition of coercive control. The Court of Appeal rejected each argument and affirmed the judgment in full.

The team also included Elizabeth Chilton and Michael Gosling, who provided essential procedural and appellate support, and Alexander Suarez, who assisted with briefing the discovery issues before the trial court.
