Glaser Weil Announces Energy & Environmental Group Chair Terry Avchen as Name Partner

Terry Avchen, a founding Partner of the Firm and Chair of Glaser Weil’s burgeoning Environmental and Energy Department will have his name added to the Firm’s name effective January 1, 2011. Mr. Avchen has represented clients in every aspect of environmental and energy law throughout his career, ranging from groundbreaking cost recovery litigation against the Department of Defense, to drafting insurance protocols for carbon credit transactions.

Litigation Department chair Ms. Patricia Glaser commented, “Terry has been integral to the long-term success of the Firm and our clients, and we look forward to his continued success.”

In conjunction with the firm, Mr. Avchen founded and spearheaded Environmental Research Advocates Foundation, a foundation dedicated to funding environmental science and alternative energy research projects. The Board of Advisors, composed of the world’s most highly regarded scientists and policy makers, highlights projects worthy of its support. Additionally, Mr. Avchen was one of the few lawyers featured as a speaker at the recent annual conference Greenbuild, organized by the U.S. Green Building Council, responsible for LEED Certification.
