Overview
Alexander Miller is an associate in the Firm’s litigation practice group. As a skilled litigator and advisor, Alex works closely with clients to successfully meet their litigation objectives and efficiently resolve disputes. His practice encompasses all aspects of litigation—including complex breach of contract, employment, entertainment, intellectual property and partnership disputes—in state, federal and arbitral forums.
Prior to joining Glaser Weil, Alex was a senior associate in the business litigation department of an Am Law 50 firm. He served as a law clerk to the Hon. Michael M. Anello, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of California, and the Hon. J. Clifford Wallace, Senior Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
While attending University of San Diego School of Law, Alex served on the San Diego Law Review and the Appellate Moot Court Board and was a teaching assistant for the legal writing and research program. While attending UC Santa Barbara, he served as a White House intern in the George W. Bush administration.

Alex’s notable experience includes his representation of:
- Caydon San Diego Property LLC in the successful defense of high-profile litigation brought by the San Diego City Attorney’s Office concerning the historic California Theatre. Alex contributed to the Firm securing dismissal of the lawsuit and a favorable attorneys’ fees ruling in the years-long case, which drew widespread attention due to the property's century-old status and the City’s push for demolition and damages. (Highlighted among the notable cases included in Daily Journal’s Verdicts and Settlements.)
- A holding company in its defense against an alleged breach of contract involving an eight-figure purchase agreement for a Gulfstream jet. Following a five-day bench trial, the Glaser Weil team prevailed on Plaintiff’s declaratory relief and unjust enrichment claims, securing enforcement of the agreement’s limitation of liability provision which reduced Plaintiff’s damages claim by 99.75%. Among other things, Alex was part of the trial team and cross-examined a key witness at trial.
- Certain members of the family of a deceased prominent global entertainer, in connection with appellate writ proceedings in a dispute involving the entertainer’s estate. Alex drafted a successful opposition to the petitioner’s petition for writ of mandate.
- Lindsey Boylan, the first woman to come forward publicly with allegations (made on social media) against former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, in connection with more than a dozen subpoenas issued about Ms. Boylan by Governor Cuomo in connection with civil litigation.
- A financial services company in a putative employment class action which included at least nine claims, including for violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) in the Central District of California. Alex drafted a successful motion to dismiss, after which the parties subsequently reached a confidential settlement.
- Producers of a well-known movie franchise, in a dispute with movie studios regarding distribution and other rights in two motion picture projects. Alex drafted a demand for arbitration, after which the parties subsequently resolved their dispute.
Additional experience includes his representation of:
- A cutting-edge technology company in winning a significant plaintiff’s verdict and attorneys’ fee award in a breach of contract and trade secret action; it was tried before the American Arbitration Association in New York City.*
- A coffee extraction company in winning a $50 million damages award for in a breach of contract action against the company’s former co-founder involving theft of the company’s intellectual property; it was tried before the American Arbitration Association in San Diego, resulting in a placement on the Daily Journal Corporations 2022 Top Verdicts in California list.*
- Proponents of a ballot initiative in successfully opposing a petition for writ of mandate by the City of San Diego seeking to exclude an initiative from the 2018 general ballot and won a related anti-SLAPP motion, resulting in a $340,000+ attorneys’ fees award in San Diego Superior Court.*
- A food safety intelligence company in a complex fraud case involving the acquisition of cutting-edge pathogen detection technology, including obtaining case-critical admissions at deposition and on cross-examination at trial.*
- A Fortune 100 technology company in resolving fraud and other claims by filing a compelling demurrer and an anti-SLAPP motion.*
- A leading biopharmaceutical company in a complex patent licensing dispute.*
- A privately held beverage company in a putative false advertising class action.*
- A San Diego-based claims management company in a multimillion-dollar breach of contract dispute with an insurer.*
- A major pipeline company in putative class actions by landowners claiming to own interests in the pipeline rights-of-way.*
