Glaser Weil LLP is proud to announce that Rory Miller, Partner in the Firm’s Litigation Department, has been selected to the Daily Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40” list for 2018. This exclusive list recognizes the foremost attorneys under the age of 40 from throughout California.
In the Daily Journal feature, Mr. Miller discussed his recent appearances before the Ninth Circuit and explained how he used humor to build rapport with the judges hearing his cases. “At the end of the day, even the most cut-and-dried commercial dispute is a story about people,” Mr. Miller explains. “One of my jobs is to make sure that the judges understand our clients’ positions and I’ve found that few things connect judges or juries to a client on a personal level like a well-timed jab of humor.”
“We are glad that the Daily Journal recognized what our clients already know: that Rory is one of the most talented litigators—of any age—in California,” said Patricia Glaser, Chair of the Firm’s Litigation Department. “He has played a key role in many of the Firm’s litigation successes and we look forward to many more successes by Rory for our clients in the future.”
Mr. Miller plays a central role in some of the Firm’s most important and high-profile litigation matters. He handles a wide variety of business, antitrust and intellectual property disputes from pre-litigation through trial and appeal in courts across the country. He has represented clients of all sizes from individuals to Fortune 100 companies at all stages of litigation and has developed a particular focus on complex financial litigation, increasingly including cross-border legal work.
In just the past year, Mr. Miller has been involved in numerous significant cases. For example, Mr. Miller represented billionaire bond investor Bill Gross in his widely publicized lawsuit against PIMCO, private equity firm The Gores Group in both California and Delaware courts, and argued two cases before the Ninth Circuit. In addition to the Daily Journal, Mr. Miller’s efforts on behalf of clients have also been reported on in the Los Angeles Times, Law360 and Bloomberg.
Mr. Miller’s prestigious recognition in the Daily Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40” joins the other awards he has received for his work, including being honored by Benchmark Litigation on its 2017 “Under 40 Hot List” and named to the 2017 and 2018 Southern California Super Lawyers, Rising Stars lists.
Established in 1893, the Daily Journal is known as one of the foremost legal publications in the U.S. The publication is widely respected by California attorneys in all practice areas for its extensive coverage and profiles of judges, appellate decisions, and other notable legal information.
