Since joining Glaser Weil in 1999, Kerry Garvis Wright has emerged as a force in the legal community, a high-stakes trial attorney, and a go-to employment lawyer. She is a fierce, sharp, and dedicated advocate, and her strategic approach to litigation has translated into significant trial and arbitration victories for her clients.
Having had a focus on significant litigation involving sexual harassment and gender-based and other discrimination and harassment claims, Kerry was perfectly positioned to take on the types of representation that the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements spurred. Since those watershed moments in October 2017, Kerry has handled significant claims made against some of the most significant players and household names in the entertainment, private equity, and tech industries.
Kerry also has led noteworthy investigations involving allegations of sexual harassment and other workplace misconduct. Of course, due to the nature of these claims, many of her successes never see the light of day; they are handled swiftly and quietly and involve a highly coordinated approach utilizing contingency press and other strategies in the event a particular matter cannot be resolved before a lawsuit is filed or the matter otherwise goes public.
Kerry chairs the firm’s Employment Department, and in addition to her litigation practice, clients regularly call on her for advice regarding problems ranging from the mundane to those involving emerging, cutting-edge principles of law. She has been a leading voice on the unprecedented employment-related issues that have arisen due to the COVID-19 pandemic, been featured on Good Morning America, and given seminars regarding how to navigate the unprecedented challenges facing employers and, more recently, reopening the workplace.
Kerry has been broadly recognized for her experience and caliber of service. In recent years, her recognitions include being named one of the “Top Labor & Employment Lawyers” in California by the Daily Journal; one of just six California attorneys nominated as a “Labor & Employment Litigation Attorney of the Year” by Benchmark Litigation, as well as a “California and Local Litigation Star” and a “Labor and Employment Star” by Benchmark; a “Legal Visionary” by L.A. Times B2B Publishing; a “Leader in Law” nominee by the Los Angeles Business Journal; and an honoree on Variety’s “Legal Impact Report.” In a recent profile, Benchmark stated that Kerry "has earned her stripes as a 'warrior in court and therapist out of court' with a portfolio of clients including household names in the entertainment elite."
Kerry serves on the board of the Western Justice Center.
