From the County of Los Angeles to the Exxon Mobil Corporation to a member of a rock band — Glaser Weil Partner Joel Klevens has represented them all, and everything in between, during his nearly four decades as a business litigator. Mr. Klevens has extensive experience in handling complex civil litigation in both the state and federal courts, in arbitrations and on appeal, and his experience enables him to handle a broad variety of matters with a high level of efficiency and success. 

Mr. Klevens has tried and co-tried significant jury and bench trials with multi-million dollar results. He has handled disputes in a wide variety of areas, including employment, entertainment, contract, business torts, legal malpractice, insurance coverage and real estate. He represents individuals and corporate clients.

Mr. Klevens received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and his law degree from Stanford University Law School. While attending law school, Mr. Klevens was the Note and Recent Developments editor of the Stanford Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif. After admission to the California Bar, Mr. Klevens clerked for two years for Justice Stanley Mosk, Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court.

Representative Matters

Representing the County of Los Angeles in defending significant retaliation, employment and breach of contract claims in multiple lawsuits.

Handling significant legal malpractice claims for both plaintiffs and defendants.

Defending medical providers against RICO allegations.

Representing major title insurance companies in litigations involving issues of duty, coverage, bankruptcy and fraudulent conveyance law.

Representing a public employee union in complex pension litigations.

Representing a major bank in litigations involving alleged breach of contract, personal guarantees and alleged misappropriation of funds.

Represented Exxon Mobil Corporation as co-counsel in a jury trial which defeated a $750 million breach of contract and bad faith claim, and co-tried a plaintiff’s contract case against Walt Disney Company resulting in a $14.9 million jury verdict for plaintiff.

Litigated the rights of a band member against the rock-and-roll band that employed him.
