Marc L. Benezra is a highly-recognized real estate lawyer. Accomplished in both real estate litigation and transactions, his services include extensive experience representing solvent guarantors, disgruntled partners, defrauded investors, joint venturers, buyers, sellers, borrowers, landlords and tenants. Mr. Benezra prides himself on remaining sensitive to his clients’ unique situations and needs.
In addition to practicing law, he has proven active in giving back to his community as a Board Member of the Ziman Center (UCLA), a founder of New West Charter High School, an Executive Board Member of the Los Angeles Jewish Community Relations Committee, a Board Member of the National Board of the UJC/JCPA Israel Advocacy Committee, a Board Member of the Exceptional Children’s Foundation, and Chair of the Israel & World Jewry Commission.
Successfully represented some 40 commercial real estate loan guarantors in resolving numerous litigation matters, each usually involving eight-figure exposures.
Successfully represented a defrauded widow in litigation against agents, broker, counterparty, accountant and exchange accommodator in litigation in connection with a series of ill-advised 1031 exchanges.
Successfully represented a limited liability company member in litigation with other limited liability company members. Obtained a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction removing sponsor members. Obtained an arbitration award for all requested damages and a significant attorneys’ fees award.
Represent a nationwide owner of commercial real estate in management, operation, financing and disposition.
Represented a seller in a $400 million roll-up of medical supply distributors to a private equity group.
Represented a national retail tenant in general real estate matters, including a lease buy-out and an arbitration as to “fair market value” in connection with an extension option.
