Glaser Weil Announces Barbara M. Rubin as Chair of the Entertainment Dept.

Glaser Weil is pleased to announce that veteran entertainment lawyer Barbara M. Rubin has been tapped to head up its Entertainment Department.

Barbara, who joined the Firm as a Partner earlier this year, has extensive in-house studio business and legal affairs experience, having headed Business and Legal Affairs for Spelling Television, A&E and Rysher Television. She represents writers, producers, actors, directors and small production companies in both reality and scripted television and film. Emmy Magazine dubbed her a “top industry negotiator” and she is included among Southern California’s Super Lawyers.

“There is no one better suited for this position than Barbara,” said Partner Patty Glaser. “She knows what it takes to close the deal and, in the entertainment industry, that is the first and most critical step to any successful production.”

Barbara also serves as an Assistant Professor and the Executive Director of the Entertainment Law Practicum at Loyola Law School. Prior to joining the Firm, she was a co-founding partner of the entertainment law firm of Peter Rubin & Simon.

Glaser Weil’s entertainment attorneys have been at the cutting edge of turning talent, ideas, vision and drive into success in the business and artistic arenas since the Firm’s earliest days. Its practice is international in scope and extends to all aspects of the entertainment industry, from television and motion pictures to electronic and new media to music and art.
