Conflicts Assistant
Glaser Weil is looking for a detail-oriented, friendly and eager-to-learn Conflicts Assistant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a recent college graduate who’s interested in the legal field and wants to build a strong foundation in compliance, research and client service. The Conflicts Assistant will play a critical role in supporting Glaser Weil’s risk management efforts by assisting with conflict checks for new clients, matters and lateral hires. This position ensures that the Firm complies with ethical obligations regarding client representation and conflict of interest rules. This position will be located in the Firm’s Century City office and will report to the Conflicts Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preliminary conflict checks for new clients, matters and potential lateral hires using the Firm’s conflict database and research tools.
- Review conflicts requests to ensure complete and accurate data in the conflict check and client/matter intake systems.
- Review and analyze search results to identify potential conflicts.
- Prepare and distribute conflict search reports for attorney review.
- Escalate complex or uncertain conflicts to Conflicts Analysts or General Counsel.
- Track and follow up on conflicts clearance documentation (e.g., waivers, screens).
- Assist in maintaining ethical wall documentation and implementation, when necessary.
- Communicate with attorneys and legal assistants to gather information required to complete conflict searches.
- Perform due diligence research on companies and individuals using external databases (e.g., Westlaw, Dun & Bradstreet, Google).
- Respond promptly to inquiries regarding the status of conflicts checks.
- Support client/matter opening process by ensuring conflict clearance and coordinating with other departments (e.g., billing, records).
- Organize and file conflict-related correspondence and documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding sensitive firm and client information.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent required; Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment a plus
- Familiarity with conflicts or client intake procedures preferred
- Familiarity with legal terminology and law firm structure is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with conflicts software (e.g., Intapp, Elite, Aderant) is a plus
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
- Friendly, flexible and excited to learn in a fast-paced environment

The base compensation range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000. Compensation will be dependent on applicable experience and skillset of the candidate. These numbers do not reflect a successful candidate’s total compensation. Base compensation is only the guaranteed component of the total compensation package and does not include discretionary bonuses and the other career-enhancing opportunities of joining the Firm.
