Overview

Yao Mou, an associate in the Firm’s Litigation Department, specializes in complex commercial litigation. Her areas of focus include contract disputes, intellectual property disputes and real estate litigation.

Yao brings a unique perspective to her practice in complex commercial litigation, informed by her deep understanding of diverse legal systems. She frequently leverages her knowledge of both national and international legal landscapes when representing companies and high-net-worth individuals. Yao has skillfully defended a variety of national and multinational companies in trade secrets litigation, antitrust investigations, and trademark and patent disputes across state and federal courts, as well as before China’s State Administration for Market Regulation. Her proficiency is especially evident in managing cross-border regulatory and business disputes, with notable experience in navigating the nuances of Chinese legal and business practices.

Before joining Glaser Weil, Yao gained valuable experience as an associate at a well-known Los Angeles-based law firm and at a distinguished Am Law 100 firm. She also served as an extern for the Honorable Otis D. Wright II at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Yao further honed her legal skills through internships at the California Attorney General’s Office, Antitrust Division, and at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, Consumer Protection Section.

During her time at Loyola Law School, Yao made significant contributions as an editor of the Loyola Law Review. She was an active participant in the moot court program, earning accolades such as the Best Brief Award in the Scott Moot Court Competition, and represented Loyola Law School in the ABA’s National Moot Court Competition.

Yao is fluent in Mandarin and has applied this skill in translating numerous judicial opinions from Mandarin to English. Her translation work has been recognized in the publication “Transnational Intellectual Property Law: Text and Cases” by Robert Mergers and Seagull Haiyan Song.

  • A group of investors in securing an injunction in Orange County Superior Court in a multimillion-dollar real estate fraud case.*
  • A Chinese multinational technology company in trade secrets litigation.*
  • A Mandarin-speaking client in a wage claim dispute in front of the California Labor Commission.*
  • A U.S. manufacturer in an antitrust investigation by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation.*
  • Inventors of pharmaceutical compounds in a patent inventorship bench trial.*
  • A Hong Kong manufacturing technology platform company and its CEO/founder in a lawsuit filed against one of the largest social media companies in the world for breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing in advertising contracts. The court ruled in favor of our client.
