Glaser Weil’s Julie Gerchik and Elisa Paster Honored on the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Thriving in their 40’s” List

We are pleased to announce that Julie Gerchik, litigation partner, and Elisa Paster, partner and co-chair of the Government & Regulatory Department, have been named in the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Thriving in their 40’s” list. 

The Los Angeles news publication made its announcement today, showcasing the profiles of the top market leaders paving the way in their respective industries. Following an extensive background review, these outstanding professionals were selected based on their attributes, career, and accomplishments.

Julie R. F. Gerchik litigates all types of complex commercial matters including financial institution matters, securities litigation and regulatory matters, real estate and developer disputes, all types of investigations, entertainment, employment, technology and IP matters. She has considerable experience in all aspects of motion practice, discovery, mediation and both trial and arbitration work in both federal and state court.

Ms. Gerchik is the Founder and Chair of the Glaser Weil Diversity Committee, Chair of Litigation Department Recruiting, and a member of the Glaser Weil Pro Bono Committee. Ms. Gerchik is a member of the Board of Governors of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, a member of the Executive Committee of the Litigation Section of Los Angeles County Bar Association, is past Co-Chair of the Executive Committee of the Bet Tzedek New Leadership Council and a current member, and previously was appointed to the Los Angeles County Bar Access to Justice Committee. Additionally, Ms. Gerchik is a member of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers. 

Elisa Paster specializes in navigating complex entitlement and environmental processes across California, including Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Culver City, Long Beach, and Beverly Hills and the unincorporated County of Los Angeles. Ms. Paster is involved in all aspects of the development process: assisting clients in the initial due diligence stages before purchase of property, strategizing on development and redevelopment of land, processing applications and overseeing environmental compliance (CEQA/NEPA), representing clients in front of public bodies, including appellate bodies, and defending the entitlements in litigation. Before law school, she worked as a planner for five years and she is well connected to the professional planning community. Her previous “behind the counter” experience allows her to think creatively about legal issues and provides clients with a unique perspective.

She is a long time Boardmember of Menorah Housing, a provider of low income senior housing, and the past president of the Westside Urban Forum, a 30 + year old organization that brings together industry leaders to debate urban policy issues. Ms. Paster is active in the Urban Land Institute, the California Chapter of the American Planning Association and  the Southern California Association of Non-Profit Housing.
