Benchmark Litigation Names Rory Miller and Noah Perch-Ahern to Its 40 & Under Hot List

Glaser Weil LLP congratulates Partners Rory Miller and Noah Perch-Ahern on being recognized by Benchmark Litigation for its 2018 “40 & Under Hot List.” The list honors the most accomplished emerging legal talent from across the United States and Canada—in 2018, only 23 lawyers in Los Angeles were named to the list. This is Mr. Miller’s second consecutive year on Benchmark’s “40 & Under Hot List” and Mr. Perch-Ahern’s inaugural selection.

“Both Rory and Noah litigate with a sophistication far beyond their years of practice. Their extraordinary leadership qualities, top-tier legal savvy and diligent work ethic have made them invaluable assets to the Firm and their clients,” said Patricia Glaser, Chair of the Firm’s Litigation Department. “We are proud of their recognition from Benchmark and expect nothing less than continued success from both of these accomplished next-generation leaders.”

Mr. Miller plays a central role in some of the Firm’s most important and high-profile litigation matters. He handles a wide variety of business, antitrust and intellectual property disputes from pre-litigation through trial and appeal in courts across the country. He has represented clients of all sizes from individuals to Fortune 100 companies at all stages of litigation, and has developed a particular focus on complex financial litigation, increasingly including cross-border legal work. In just the past year, Mr. Miller has been involved in numerous significant cases.  For example, Mr. Miller represented billionaire bond investor Bill Gross in his widely publicized lawsuit against PIMCO, private equity firm The Gores Group in both California and Delaware courts, and argued two cases before the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Miller’s efforts on behalf of clients have been reported on in the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Daily Journal, Law360 and Bloomberg. Mr. Miller was also recently selected to the Daily Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40” list for 2018.

Mr. Perch-Ahern maintains a broad national environmental and energy practice and is often engaged to work on cases of first impression and other sharply disputed matters. Mr. Perch-Ahern has litigated cases addressing key issues relating to environmental common law claims, water rights, CERCLA cost recovery and contribution, citizen suits under the Clean Water Act, jurisdictional issues under the California Coastal Act, and preemption principles relating to public utilities.  Mr. Perch-Ahern has recently tried bench and jury trials. He was also honored as this year’s “Next Generation Lawyer of the Year,” by the Century City Bar Association. Mr. Perch-Ahern is the President of the Young Professionals in Energy (YPE) Los Angeles, sits on the Board of Trustees for the Southern California Water Committee (SCWC), is a member of the Board of Directors for TreePeople and the Valley Industry and Commerce Association (VICA), serves as Chair of VICA’s Environmental, Energy and Utilities Committee, and is Co-Chair of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce’s Water, Energy & Environmental Sustainability Council.

This Benchmark accolade is the latest of several honors for this strong litigation department from Benchmark. Glaser Weil is recognized as a “Highly Recommended Firm” for 2018, which is Benchmark Litigation’s top-tier status achieved by only 25 law firms throughout California. Seven Glaser Weil attorneys also received individual Benchmark distinctions, ranking them among the top litigators in the state. These attorneys include Litigation Department Chair Patricia Glaser, along with Partners Jill Basinger, Andrew Baum, Michael Cypers, Garland Kelley, Sean Riley and Robert Shapiro. Ms. Glaser is also recognized on Benchmark Litigation’s lists of “Top 250 Women in Litigation” and “Top 100 Trial Lawyers.”
