Since joining the Firm in 2003, Litigation Partner Pete Slevin has practiced in all areas of civil litigation, in addition to advising clients on business practices outside the litigation context. Over the years, Mr. Slevin has worked on numerous mediations, arbitrations, bench trials, jury trials and appeals, appearing regularly in state and federal courts. He also regularly helps clients minimize litigation by avoiding practices likely to lead to it, or negotiating early resolution.
Representing plaintiffs as well as defendants, Mr. Slevin has successfully helped a variety of clients avoid lawsuits, defend against claims and recover millions in judgments and settlements. Mr. Slevin typically represents entrepreneurs, entertainers, developers, insurance carriers, quasi-governmental entities and nonprofit foundations. Mr. Slevin’s representative matters include entertainment and intellectual property claims, real estate and construction matters, securities litigation, insurance coverage disputes, employment actions and class action claims.
Mr. Slevin draws on experience gained in work across a wide range of industries — from finance to music publishing to defense — to inform his legal practice. Mr. Slevin excels at communicating complex ideas using traditional and electronic presentation techniques, enabling fact finders to recognize the themes encompassed by factual details. This focus has helped Mr. Slevin achieve numerous successful results at trial, in commercial arbitrations and on appeal.
Prior to law school at the University of California, Los Angeles, Mr. Slevin earned a bachelor of science degree in finance from California State University, Los Angeles, magna cum laude. When not at work, Mr. Slevin’s interests range from international travel to music and martial arts.
